Mena Alexandera Suvari, born in 1979 is an American model, actress and fashion designer. Her birth date was 13 February 1979. Soon after her first job as a model, she moved into acting, after appearing as a guest on 90's programs on television like Boy Meets World and High Incident. She debuted in film with the show Nowhere that was released in 1997. Following her appearance in American Beauty (for which she received an award from the BAFTA Award) and American Pie that attracted greater attention, she began the transition to major role. After that, she was on screen in Loser (2000) along with the American Pie co-star Jason Biggs and then played the principal role in the comedy film Sugar & Spice (2001). She had appearances in the independent 2002 drama Spun and in the 2004 thriller feature Trauma. The other films she appeared in include HBO's series Six Feet Under. In 2008, she was part of several films including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the movie adaptation to The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been featured on various fashion websites and in various magazines, such Vogue as well as Lancome Paris Adaptive print ads. She is a long-time supporter and activist for the highly regarded African relief organisation, known as the African Medical and Research Foundation. She also is active on the issue of women's empowerment and collaborates with various organizations to help raise awareness about breast cancer as well as an End Violence Against Women Campaign.
